Larry’s first work day. Eileen relaxed at the 13th floor pool and bar, typing for the travel blog, and generally recovering from 3 days of lots of walking and touring.
Eileen found a small supermarket nearby to stock up on water, nuts, chocolate (of course), came back to the hotel, and then stopped for a quick lunch at Bread and Friends, a delightful pasty, bread, breakfast and lunch spot right next to the hotel.

Then back to Chiado square to visit the Bertand bookshop, established in 1732, the oldest operating bookshop in the world (Guiness Book of Records).

Eileen then walked to convent of Carmo, mostly destroyed in the 1755 earthquake and turned into a museum of artifacts from Neolithic, Roman, and Christian eras in the 1800s, including a few headstones of rabbis and a stone inscription from the Porto synagogue, which were mentioned in the Jewish tour of Lisbon.

Commemorative Inscription of Porto Synagogue, Porto, 14th century granite.

Then it was back to Chiado square for an almond muffin and coffee at Bernard’s, an establishment next store to and actually a few years older as A Brasilieria, both early 1900s. Then back to the hotel.

Dinner was with a bunch of Mplify people at Zaataria, a Lebanese restaurant.
